Float Frame Care Guide: How to Protect Your Pressed Flower Float Frame

Your floral preservation artwork is designed to last for many years with just a little care. Because every piece contains real flowers, it’s important to understand that nature continues to be part of the artwork.

We have compiled a list of important items to consider when caring for your float frame.

Cleaning Your Glass

Please never use glass cleaner, Windex, ammonia, vinegar, alcohol, or any cleaning solution on your float frame.

If your piece includes museum glass, cleaning agents can permanently damage the special anti-reflective coating, causing permanent streaking or hazing that cannot be repaired. Instead, gently wipe the glass with a clean, dry microfiber cloth. That’s all it needs.

Tiny Imperfections Are Normal

Float frames are handcrafted, and no two pieces are exactly alike. You may notice an occasional tiny scratch or other subtle imperfection in the glass. These are normal characteristics of professionally manufactured glass and are often only visible in certain lighting or at specific angles.

Likewise, every flower is unique. Small variations in color, texture, and shape are part of what makes your artwork truly one of a kind. These natural characteristics are not flaws—they’re a reminder that your bouquet once bloomed.

How to Handle Your Frame

When handling your frame, try to hold it by the outer edges whenever possible. Fingerprints can be difficult to remove from the glass, especially museum glass, which should never be cleaned with glass cleaners or chemicals. If fingerprints do occur, gently wipe the glass with a clean, dry microfiber cloth.

Please avoid touching the flowers inside the frame. The natural oils from your fingertips can stain or damage delicate petals over time. If you open your frame to reposition a loose petal, handle only the edges of the flower whenever possible and avoid touching the face of the blooms.

 If a Flower Petal Falls

Real flowers are organic materials. Although each bloom is carefully secured, it is completely normal for an occasional petal, seed, or tiny piece of foliage to loosen over time.

If this happens, don’t worry. You can safely open your float frame and gently place the piece back where it belongs before closing the frame again.

Display Your Artwork Carefully

To help preserve your flowers for years to come:

  • Keep your artwork out of direct sunlight to minimize natural fading.
  • Avoid displaying it in bathrooms or other humid environments.
  • Keep it away from fireplaces, heating vents, radiators, or areas with frequent temperature changes.
  • Display it in a climate-controlled room whenever possible.
  • Dust the frame occasionally with a dry microfiber cloth.

Every Piece Is One of a Kind

Please remember that your artwork contains real flowers, not artificial replicas. The delicate nature of botanical materials is what makes every preservation piece beautifully unique.

No two bouquets and no two preserved artworks will ever be exactly the same. Tiny variations, subtle changes, and the character of each bloom are what transform your bouquet into a true heirloom rather than a manufactured product.

Enjoy Your Flowers

Your preserved bouquet is made from real flowers that lived, bloomed, and celebrated one of the most meaningful days of your life. Just as flowers naturally change throughout their life cycle, your preserved flowers may continue to evolve subtly over the years. These gentle changes are part of the beauty of working with nature, making your artwork a truly authentic and timeless keepsake.

With proper care, your bouquet will continue telling your story and preserving those memories for many years to come.
