Florists, Are You Sending Flowers for Preservation? We Have Assembled The Best Ways To Prepare Wedding Flowers For Preservation

Some of our most beautiful preservation pieces begin with the florists who create the bouquet long before it reaches our studio. We see the intention, craftsmanship, and heart you put into every stem. When a bride books a preservation with us, she’s not just preserving her flowers, she’s preserving your artistry.

To help us honor that work, here are a few supportive notes that make the preservation process smoother, more predictable, and more magical for the couples we both serve.

These aren’t rules, just friendly collaboration from one artist to another

1. A Quick Note About Reflexed Roses

Reflexed roses are breathtaking in a bouquet! They photograph beautifully and give that modern editorial look brides love.

However… they don’t press well.

  1.       They often have to be trimmed
  2.       They almost always require intensive color correction
  3.       Their open shape makes them fragile in the press
  4.       We frequently have to rebuild or reconstruct the petals

Our gentle suggestion:

If reflexing is part of your design (which we respect and love aesthetically), please leave one or two roses un-reflexed so we have clean, intact blooms to preserve for the bride.

It gives us so much more flexibility and ensures her artwork turns out stunning.

 2. If You Include a Statement Flower, Please Send an Extra

Peonies, dahlias, garden roses, and other statement blooms are showstoppers — and they’re often the center of a bride’s final artwork.

However, these flowers can arrive:

  •       bruised
  •       overheated
  •       fully blown open
  •       or simply too fragile after a long wedding day

To protect the final design, it helps immensely if the bride arrives with an extra or two of that key bloom (or you send them with her). We promise we will handle these with the highest care, and having backups ensures we can deliver the layout your client dreamed of.

3. Hydration Makes a Massive Difference

A bouquet that stays hydrated until the very last moment presses dramatically better.

A hydration wrap, vase, or even a small water source for transport can extend the life of blooms and preserve their vibrancy.

 4. Bouquets With a Little Breathing Room Press Better Than Tightly Packed Designs

Super-tight bouquets can be challenging to separate without petal loss.

A little structure and spacing helps us keep each bloom intact for pressing.

 5. A Variety of Shapes and Textures Creates Beautiful Art

We love seeing mixes of (and so much more!)

  • Peonies
  • Poppies
  • Nigella
  • Lenten Roses
  • Anemones
  • Canterbury Bells
  • Sweet Peas
  • Scabiosa
  • Bachelor Buttons
  • Foxglove
  • Snapdragons
  • Airy filler like Cress

These translate into movement and depth in the final design.

6. We’re Always Happy to Collaborate With You

If you ever want advice on:

  • what presses well in certain seasons
  • how specific varieties behave once pressed
  • what brides are currently requesting for artwork
  • or how to send blooms with the best survival odds

We love being a part of that conversation.
