Designing your preserved bouquet is one of the most meaningful parts of what we do. This is where your story, your flowers, and our artistry come together, one petal at a time. Because every bouquet is unique, we’ve created a design process that feels personal, collaborative, and beautifully efficient.
Getting Started: Your Vision Comes First
Before we ever begin designing, we wanted to address a few important questions so we can bring your vision to life:
- Do you prefer a portrait or landscape orientation?
- If you are interested in color correction, make sure to let your artist know what you would like. Remember, most flowers lose all color and will turn brown. The fee for color correction is $100/hour. Most pieces require at least 2 - 8 hours.
- Did you want to upgrade? Talk to you presser. Upgrades include, but are not limited to: larger frame sizes, custom size frames, additional pieces, resin elements, or any customization not included in the base price.
- Would you like your piece to be bouquet-style or meadowscape. Note: meadowscapes are not available for the 5 x 7's and 8 x 10's.
- Are there any favorite flowers you want highlighted or centered?
- If you have used our payment plan, make sure that your invoice is paid in full. Design will begin once we have received payment. Please remember that your account must be paid in full in order for us to move forward with your design. If we don't receive your payment, unfortunately your preservation goes to the back of the production queue and you will have to wait another 9+ months to get your piece back. Please pay your bill. This policy is strictly enforced.
- Once your piece has been completed, you have two weeks to pick it up or make arrangements for shipping, paid at your expense. We are a small studio and do not have extra space to store items.
These early details help us plan your layout and ensure that the final design feels true to you and your original bouquet.
Communication Made Simple
All design communication happens via text message so everything stays organized in one place. When your design time arrives, we’ll send you a photo of your reconstructed and color corrected flowers, this is where we begin.
Because each bouquet requires our full focus and delicate handling, we can only work on one design at a time. Please plan to be available during your design window so we can finalize your layout quickly and safely while your flowers are still at their best for arranging. If you are not available during this time, please let us know so we can schedule your design accordingly.
Understanding Your Pressed Flower Design
Pressed flowers will naturally look different from flowers in a fresh, three dimensional bouquet. The pressing process changes the shape, depth, texture, and the color of each flower, and certain flowers may appear larger, flatter, or take on a different visual form once pressed and reconstructed.
Your finished piece is an artistic interpretation of your bouquet using the flowers that have been successfully preserved. It is not intended to be an exact replica of how your bouquet looked on your wedding day. Understanding and embracing the unique characteristics of pressed flowers is an important part of the preservation process.
Design Proofs & Revisions
Your first design photo is considered your initial proof. Most clients approve their design on the first pass. Your package includes one design revision and a maximum of two proofs total.
A revision is a minor adjustment to the existing design, not a change to the overall composition. Examples may include adding or removing a small amount of greenery, slightly adjusting the placement of a flower, filling a small open area, or making other minor finishing adjustments.
Requests that significantly alter the composition are considered a redesign, not a revision, and are billed at $150 per hour. This includes moving or replacing a focal or center flower, changing the primary placement of flowers, rearranging multiple flowers, changing the overall shape or flow of the design, or requesting a substantially different layout after the first proof has been presented.
Because each flower is individually placed and the design is created as a complete composition, moving one major element often requires surrounding flowers to be repositioned as well.
After the second proof has been provided, but not confirmed, each successive proof is billed at $150 per hour.
Understanding Color Correction Adjustments
If your order includes a flat fee for color correction, that fee covers the color correction determined necessary as part of our preservation process. You will not be charged additional color correction fees for work we determine is needed to complete your original design.
However, a flat color correction fee does not include unlimited color changes or additional color correction requested after design proofs are presented. Pressed flowers naturally change in color, tone, depth, and appearance during preservation, and color correction is an artistic enhancement rather than an exact recreation of the flowers when they were fresh.
If, after viewing your design proof, you request additional color work based on personal preference, such as making flowers significantly pinker, brighter, darker, lighter, or otherwise altering their preserved appearance beyond the color correction already completed, that work is considered an additional design request and is billed at $150 per hour.
Before Requesting Changes
Please consider additional design and color requests carefully before asking us to proceed. Changes that may appear small can require significant time to complete, particularly when flowers need to be removed, recolored, reconstructed, or repositioned. Because additional design work and color correction are $150.00 per hour, these costs can add up quickly. We encourage you to review each proof carefully and provide all requested adjustments at one time.
Transfer, Glue Down, Framing & Pick-Up
When your design is approved, each botanical element is carefully transferred flower by flower, stem by stem, from the template to the final backing. It's very tedious and meticulous work. During this process, subtle shifts can occur as the flowers are repositioned to ensure proper spacing, structural integrity, and longevity within the frame. Because your piece must have adequate space between the artwork, there is a small amount of negative space that is not seen on the template. Otherwise, your flowers would be covered by part of the frame.
While the final piece will remain true to the approved layout, minor variations in spacing and placement should be expected as your artwork is brought from proof to its finished, framed form.
Once your layout is approved and your artwork has been framed, we’ll send a text letting you know it’s ready for pick-up.
Please plan to pick up your finished piece as soon as possible, our studio space fills up quickly with new designs.
Any completed artwork left beyond 30 days after framing will be assessed a $150.00 per week storage fee.
